1982 22r engine

Can I put a1982 22r outta my 82 shortbox in my 1986 shortbox. My 86 is blowing oil into my air cleaner and getting all over the motor, must be toast?

Any tips would be great before doing this motor swap.

heck your local smog laws. In Ca. it's illegal to put an older motor into a newer vehicle. Newer motor into older vehicle is ok, but you're subject to the newer motor years smog rules.

i'm just gonna swap the motors ,i',m sure they'll fit. i live in bc we have no smog laws.

whatever happen to a simple straight answer? i'll just consult a mechanic at the dealership for clues if needed.

this newsgroup thing is cool if a guy could get a reply.

Ya didn't get an answer because you didn't supply enough info. If the 86 was EFI then the wiring will be wrong to start. '84 was the change over year for Toyota PUs so it is not so simple. What makes you think a an ASE Toyota mechanic is going to know or spend the time answing your questions. Have you even checked the compression on the engine that is blowing oil to see if perhaps it would be easier to fix it? Lenght of the box in rear has zip bearing on an engine swap --- other than the exhaust pipes.

Sorry Wolfgang you the toyota man,

Ya your right no good mechanic would talk to me ,you would know right?

I'd never go to a Toyota dealer, there the real gangsters.

Not in america for sure ,they'd think I was a terrorist.

I said i was swappin g a 22r block /head from an 82 ,into an 86 ,both carbed,, no efi ,did i say that ,. What is this forum for ,,answers maybe??,

Did i say i had efi ??I thought maybe the blocks were different in someway .that's it .

I guess not .

Probably blow-by caused by failed rings.
