Brake Controllers

Looking/need to buy a brake controller for my "new" trailor and brand new

2005 Tundra AC.

Trailer is is a 5x12 foot, with dual 3500 pound axles with brakes, weighs

1000 pounds and will be used to haul everything from dirt to machine tools.

Max weight will be 4,000 pounds or less... net total of 5,000 pounds (trailer plus lead). The Tundra can pull this with no problems.

Need recco's on best controller to buy...looking at the Prodigy for around

120 bucks shipped...

The best is probably the BrakeSmart. Lot'sa bucks. Second is the Jordan.

I really like my Jordan. Third and also excellent are the Tekonsha Prodigy and identical Draw-Tite IntellaBrake Ultra (Tekonsha and Draw-tite...and Reese, Hidden Hitch, Bulldog, SurePull, Wesbar, Fulton are all brand names of Cequent.) Other Draw-tite and Reese brake controllers are awful, IMHO.

I think

has the best price on a Prodigy. You might also look at their Equal-i-zer brand hitch which combines weight distribution and sway damping.
