Emissions 92 Toyota Pickup 3.0L V6

Hello all.

I have a 92 pickup truck with new engine swap by a sketchy mechanic recently. After going to pass the emissions tests and failing, my financial situation requires me to make this thing pass myself.

The truch failed the Hydrocarbons HC test fairly badly 6.5/6, and it flunked the Carbon Monoxide CO test incredibly bad 177.5/25. I suspect this is because my emissions hoses are hooked up incorrectly. Because the 92 3.0L's have so so many vacuum hoses, and they look incredlby hard to get right.

This truck passed 2 years ago very easily so I don't suspect my catalytic converter.

My strategy to pass emissions is to basically check routing for every hose in the manual and try to find inconsistencies. Does anyone have any advice on some likely canidates for this problem?

That is a good strategy! ALL of hoses should be correctly hooked up! On the underside of the hood, there should be a decal that details the routing of the hoses.

But, it passed with a different engine. The engine is what passes the emission test two years ago and you swapped it out.

When doing an engine swap, the rule is that the new motor has to pass at the year of specification for the vehicle or the engine, WHICHEVER is newer. If you put an old motor in a new truck, you have to apply the emission stuff of the truck. If you put a new motor in an old truck, you must use the emission stuff of the motor.
