Where do I wire it to?

I got a PNI Wayfinder V6000 compass, thermometer, barometer, altimeter earlier this year for my 2000 Tundra, extra cab, 4WD and was very happy with it. What I wasn't happy with was plugging it into one of my 12v outlets so I decided to hardwired it instead.

I have the wiring harness with an inline fuse for it and am wondering where to connect it. Would it be okay to connect it directly to the battery (easy access), fuse box (not so easy access) or where?

Assume this thing resides inside the cab, don't see how the battery can be easier access than a fuse box. There's two ways to tap into power:

1) try tapping into one of the fuses by the driver's foot with a fuse tap from Radio shack, it just slips beneath a blade fuse and then you put the fuse and fuse tap back into the fuse block. Use a fuse for the radio or something that's not critical to vehicle operation (e.g. the Ignition circuit). Heck, there might be some empty fuses in the fuse block you could use. You'll have to run a ground wire somewhere to complete the circuit, find a screw that goes into the firewall, remove the screw and put your ground wire with an eyeloop between screw and firewall, ta da!

2) another easy way to tap > I got a PNI Wayfinder V6000 compass, thermometer,

How about a "T" tap off one of your 12 volt 'outlets'. They're easy to get to behind the base of the console.

It goes on top of the dash. Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking of putting it on the same fuse as the cig lighter.

Sounds great. I'll see if I can get my head under there and take a look.
