Advice required : replace Air pump

Hello Volvo expert or who ever fixed this problem,

I have Volvo S70 non turbo and my car's Air Pump is not working. When I checked the damaged pump, I saw water and I don't know how it endup there? Now I have bought a used Air Pump.

My questions are :

  1. Should I just replaced the pump or I have to replace some thing else too (i.e Air control valve...pipe, clamp etc ).

  1. When I fixed the working pump, how can i prevent water going in ?

many thanks in advance.

Water in the air pump has condensed out of the exhaust. The vacuum valve (called SAS (Secondary Air System) valve) located behind the engine up high has failed. This allows a small amount of exhaust through the hose to the air pump when it's not running (most of the time), this cools and allows the water vapour to condense and collect in the air pump. So, you need to replace this SAS valve as well.
