I don't mind shipping to the UK if you don't mind paying the shipping charge. I just don't want to send this thing to the junk yard, and they crush it. I need for parts of this car to live on. Steve

What state are you in. I might be interested in the head and intake and a couple of other small parts. Did it throw a rod ? Jack in Dallas

I am in NC. The rod is not totally thrown but it is knocking. Steve in Durham, NC

It's a general term used for a con rod breaking, often from detonation or siezed bearings. Pretty rare failure on a Volvo motor that hasn't had the turbo boost go through the roof.

Would you not be better swapping engines to keep her running (the car) rather than getting rid of it? If your'e not into that level of upkeep, what you are doing is the right way. I don't mean to insult what you are doing, just asking. I just wish I was closer to you geographicaly speaking. I couldn't afford the shipping costs for over the pond !!!!!! Are you going to get another one? :) All the best

I have a good 16V head up here in Mass. All checks out at the machine shop. If you want it drop me a note.

Same compressor either way, just flush out the old oil, easy when it's out.

Why not just toss a new bottom end in there? They're cheap and easy to find.
