I think that's debatable. Look at the serviceability issues between a RWD vehicle i.e. S90 as compared to a V70. The timing belt alone takes a leisurely 2 hours to replace on a S90 compared to about 4 on a V70. At $100 per hour, that is significant. With newer vehicles, the higher level of electronic and mechanical integration may produce a lower parts count to the manufacturer but it's proving very expensive to the consumer if that part needs to be replaced.
I have no idea what a moral equivalency is. However, China, Australia, Germany, USA, France, England all have a spotty history when it comes to oppression. Indeed if you peel back the layers it would be difficult to find a country with no embarrassing components of their civil rights record. However, all of those countries have and continue to move forward when it comes to equalizing civil liberties for all. That is what is really important.
Surely you have not forgotten what american citizens have done to groups such as indians, blacks, eskimos, irish, catholics, jews, chinese, japanese, italians, etc., at some point over the centuries?

It seemed like yesterday when a mob of black kids were chasing me through the streets of south central because Martin Luther King was assassinated and I was unfortunately the closest thing to a Caucasian. So what is your point?
My point is this. I would much rather buy a car from a country that has evolved culturally and socially than from a country that may just use this nameplate just to get one over you.

Good, we need more consumers like you. I'm quite happy buying used Volvos and repairing them myself if I'm able. If the country were made of cynical cheapskates like me, the economy would be in trouble.
I'm missing your point completely, unless you are waiting for us to strike up the violins. You are now attempting to redirect the discussion away the sale of Volvo to yet another owner to one focused on your heart rending story of misfortune. C'mon...try discussing the issue as an adult would.
My goal is to drive my cars for 300,000 miles, which is easily attainable with regluar maintenance. Regarding your comment about the economy being in trouble...it already is. Hint - read the newspaper.
