Please advise me here: I have a 1989 740 GL 8 valve no turbo.
I have already changed the oxygen sensor and the fuel pressure regulator and the air flow sensor but
still poor gas mileage-- 12 mile to the gallon.
Any more ideas will be welcome . Thanks

Take it out of second gear! :O)
Its is an auto, also how about the crankcase ventilation or the oil trap? It it also leaking oil?

Have you checked for leaks in the fuel lines or tank and for dripping injectors? Unless the engine is running like total crap it seems fuel must be going somewhere.
