***** Volvo Trucks of North America has announced the recall of certain VNL and VNM tractor trailer trucks concerning a faulty steering system component.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 23 known crashes that resulted in two injuries as a result of the faulty steering component which could potentially fail and cause a complete loss of steering. The trucks with the potential for steering failure are model year 2001-2006, and were manufactured with TRW sealed drag links.

Volvo Trucks N. America initially blamed drivers for failing to properly maintain their trucks, before determining that it was a manufacturing defect. The total number of trucks affected by the recall is 63,788.
