87 Fox: Compression test results...are they ok?

Apr 11, 2004 1 Replies

Last night I did a compresson test on my 87 FOX. The results were as follows after 5 strokes:

cylinder 1.....145 cylinder 2.....155 cylinder 3.....160 cylinder 4.....145

I forgot to have the engine at normal operating temp before the test so I am not sure how that will effect the reults. Are these normal or expected results for an engine with almost 400K's on it? I want to re-due this test using a few squirts of oil in the chamber to see if the values change...to see if a ring or valve may be starting to wear...

That's good numbers you got there. A better check is to do a cylinder leak-down test.
