I have a 1994 Chevy 1500 half-ton Z71 4x4, with the 6.5L turbo-diesel engine. On a recent road trip, my "service engine soon" light came on. It was hot (>100F) and the light was speed-dependent. Uphill over 70mph, light comes on. Crest hill, light goes off. Reduce speed to 65mph, no light. I was not towing anything, nor was the truck heavily loaded. Guages indicated no problems.
My specific questions are:
- Is this vehicle OBD-I?
- If it's OBD-1, where's the 12-pin ALDL connector? On my old Bronco, it was conveniently located under the hood attached to the air intake... easy access. Not so on this truck.
- Which pins do I short to dump the codes?
I had previously found a news post detailing the procedure to evaluate the codes, but I seem to have lost it. I have searched for 45 minutes on google with every combination of "obd-1, 1994 chevy truck, aldl connector", etc. etc. etc. to no avail.
Any replies greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave
