He wants to pay by cheque, and it will be for an amount far more than the cost of the car. When the cheque has "cleared" the *seller* will be expected to send the excess by Western Union.

The best part about these scams is that the amount is always *far* more than the car is worth. I got offered £3000 for an old Saab 900 a couple of weeks ago that was up for £450.. !!

Aah - but did you take the cheque, bank it, earn the interest on it and never send the car?
