First you need a voltmeter. What is the voltage with the engine running??? If it is not something real close to 14 volts you have a charging system problem. Then you need to troubledhoot it. Was the replacement alternator new, used, or rebuilt?

If the voltage is OK, then you need to disconnect the battery when the car is left sitting. If the battery doesn't go dead any more you have a drain somewhere in the system. Then you need to find it.

Does the car have an aftermarket stereo with remote amps? They might be staying on. Hood or trunk light might be staying on, or other interior lights. Might have any number of problems on a 18 year old car.
