02 tundra cold air intake, tire question

where can i buy a cold air intake for my tundra? i've looked and found some k&n but they are really expensive, any alternatives? can i find one at pep boys or other retail chain for a reasonable price?

also, how big can i go in terms of tires without a lift? i believe i have

265/70r16 on it right now.

thanks

You already GET one from the factory - the air filter box already draws from behind the grille (in front of the radiator where the air is coldest) for best performance.

(They do the cheap and easy stuff to improve fuel mileage at the factory - gets those Fleet Fuel Efficiency numbers up.)

The only thing you get from an aftermarket air filter and induction system is a little lower resistance from bigger and straighter air passages, and that isn't going to make a lot of difference by itself. Besides an empty wallet from buying fancy parts, that is...

Don't know, too many variables - 2WD or 4WD, fender flares, etc. Go to a tire shop and ask, they have charts and to be sure they can fit one tire on the truck as a test - if it rubs, it won't fit.

But a hint from an old-timer - the higher the truck, the harder it falls. Lifting it more than two to four inches may look wicked cool on Cruise Night, but it won't help much while off-roading. And there's that very serious 'falling over' problem to deal with - you get sideways, and it's going over

Aftermarket air intakes usually take in some hot underhood air...the stock intake takes in all cold air. The Aftermarket intakes are a small help at peak rpm, and hurt power at low rpm. Lots of guys at tundrasolutions.com have taken off aftermarket intakes because of the loss of power at bottom end.

265/75R16 are no problem. Ask at tundrasolutions.com about bigger sizes.
