Door latch sensor switch

Anybody know someone who works at Saia-Burgess? Need to get the inside skinny on what the part number is for the $3 sub-miniture plunger snap switch that senses the position of the door latch mechanism (or a very close approximation). These switches are very prone to failure especially when driving on dusty roads. The dirt tends to abraid the rubber dome that retains the plunger and it falls apart. Once they do the convenience computer thinks the door is open so bells ring, lights stay on, and remote keys act weird. What a waste of money and resources it is to pay the shop hundreds of dollars to disassemble the door and replace the entire latch assembly that costs $100+ just for want of a $3 switch. Of course Saia-Burgess does not want to disclose any info about the switches supplied to auto manufactures or their sub-assembly suppliers. A very close approximation of the switch can probably be purchased from Allied Electronics or other vendors that care the brand. The key is to figure out what part number to order.

I took that latch all apart, and it was the worn roller cam not activating the switch as you said in your post. My car thought the front door was always open.

Solved with a 3 dollar plunger type switch between the door and the frame - old school type switch that every car use to have to turn on the dome light.

It works great.

Good Luck.
