'02 silverado 4 x 4 ignition problem

.'02 Silverado, 5.3 liter, 97,000 miles. I have owned this truck since new and have had the following problem on 3 separate occasions: When attempting to start, no power gets to the starter. All instruments and lights come on but something prevents the starter from turning. I have tried in neutral but still nothing. Tried disconnecting and re-connecting battery, no go. The first time this problem occurred I removed all fuses and relays and reinstalled same and the truck started. Was later told that this was pure luck. The second time I was on vacation and far from home (figures) and had the truck towed to a garage. The mechanic got it started but was unable to tell me how or what he did. He said it would happen again and was inherent in this vehicle. (huh?) Something about the "computer". The third time, (this morning), I tried the fuse/relay battery thing again but it didn't work. All three instances occurred at least 20,000 miles apart. I'm waiting for the tow truck right now. Any suggestions or tech advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

'02 Silverado 4 x 4, 5.3 liter, 97,000 mi. I have owned this vehicle since new and have had the following occur on three separate occasions: When attempting to start, no juice gets to the starter. All gauges and lights come on but something prevents power from reaching the starter. Tried to start in neutral, no go. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery, still nothing. The first time this occurred, (about 40k mi.) I removed all ignition fuses/relays and replaced same and it started. I was later told that this was pure coincidence. The second time, (about 60k mi.) I was on vacation and far from home, (figures) and had it towed to a garage. The mechanic was able to get it started but couldn't tell me what was wrong or what he did, only that it was inherent in the vehicle and it would happen again. (huh?) Something about the "computer".
