Distrubutor Problems

Nov 05, 2003 2 Replies
1984 GMC 2WD pickup, had a local back yard mechanic replace the engine with a goodwrench 305 since then i am having problems with the distributor...worked fine in the beginning and then it quit running, replaced the ignition module, 2 weeks later quit again, bought a whole new distributor, 3 weeks later it quit again and i am thinking that it is the module again...

what would be causing this, what should i be looking for?? Could low or high voltage at the distributor power supply wire cause this.

Many Thanks!!!

Look for bad grounds or a module which isn't grounded well(did you put dieelectric grease under it when installing it?). Pretty famous for that.

Sam

it must be a bad ground some where, the new distibutor was completely assembled when boughten, just had to add the coil and cap from other distributor,

anyone have any other thoughts??
