'86 535i clutch job completed

Aug 25, 2006 0 Replies

Gee! Finally completed the clutch job on the third day, by myself with two jack stands and a floor jack. It went in easier than it came out and the top trans Torx bolt wasn't hard at all. I didn't take pictures, but I can answer any questions about the procedure. The only special tool was the pilot bearing puller (loaner from Advance Auto Parts). I could have done it in less than 8 hours with a lift and a transmission jack. BTW, I replaced my non-recommended Bosch Platinum Plus plugs with Autolite 66 coppers and it runs better. I couldn't locate the Bosch Silvers locally and didn't want to wait. Someone said the Platinums were running hotter, but they weren't burning off residue properly.
