DSC Light On

I have a 2000 E39

A couple months ago the DSC light came on and won't go out. The owners manual states that it's a fault.

I checked the fuse and it looks ok.

any experience with this? Any guess what kind of costs are involved to fix it? Thanks!

Had this on an '02 M3 (luckily under warranty) as they ended up replacing the whole DSC unit which I suspect is a bit expensive.
