What E is my BMW?

Just bought a 2007 328XI, what "E" designation is this car? Thanks

If its a 4 door, then its an E90; a coupe is an E92.

And if it is a "SportWagon", its an E91. And in the extremely unlikely event that the top goes down, then its an E93!

I noticed that neither John (Burns) nor Brett (Anderson) have updated their E/M numbers for a while... ;-> ;-(

I don't know about John, but Brett seems to have disappeared from the BMW "help" arena in order to concentrate on selling differentials and Quaife units to insert therein.

My site is well in need of an update. I find it hard to generate much enthusiasm about the current cars though. If I won the lottery tomorrow there isn't one new BMW I'd want :-(

But I will get around to updating it, promise :-)

Not even a 335i coupe? I've got a little bit of lust, there.

Although I'm hoping that BMWNA is going to import a 335xd for me to buy in a couple of years so that I can replace my '01 330xi (now with 100K miles) with it.

I agree with Floyd... 335xd sounds sweet.... hopefully by the time we are in need they do import them for us! I too have an 330xi, 2003, 60k miles.

I like the new coupe, but my lottery winnings would go towards an Z4M coupe, Sapphire Black over Imola Red. Heck, I'd get one *without* winning the lottery if I could rationalize owning a Roadster and a Coupe. I plan to compromise and get a Roadster with hardtop. epbrown

Damn nice engine and I'm sure it handles wonderfully. But for me I don't like the look of the exterior and the interior is even less appealling to me.

Now that comes close, I have to admit it. But my fiance (E28 //M535i driver) doesn't like it.

Now we seem to be digressing onto "what do I get next" can I ask the question "What do I get next" and what to watch for...

I have a '96 740i standard saloon (phone removed)

I need to replace it but what with? jaguar XJ8 or XK8 seem nice but then BMW heartache looms so then I look at the 645 ------- loaded of course (USED) but then the 745i is a nice bit of kit but what about the 730d (Diesel) can I live with a lowly straight six when the throb and smoothness of a V8 is soooo nice!

Will it be fast enough? Will I feel downgraded? What will the neighbours say? will people talk? Can the 730d hold it's own in a drag race from the traffic lights?????????????

Help......

A 535i ? BMW says they built the turbo because it's lighter than a comparable V8, and just as powerful. Might be too expensive, however... Of course the styling might be too dissimilar than the older 7-series, too. A used E39 M5 might be cheap enough to buy, too: they seem to be in the $25K-$55K US.

If the poster is in the UK, he may want to look into the 535d as the V8 diesel is suppose to be awesome. Too bad we can't get BMW diesels in the US. Although there are rumors of BMWNA bringing it in to the states in 2009 or

2010, sigh....

I have an early E38 730i V8, currently for sale. It's a nice car to drive and very quick. Overall it seems well made, very well made. But I have nagging doubts about the durability of the auto box and a few problems I've had with the V8 make me doubt it too. They really skimped on the quality with things like the cooling system components, shame as otherwise it's a fantastic car.
