Wiper Refills

Man, talk about one of life's "stupid" problems.

I used to walk into almost any auto parts store and pick up wiper refills when I needed them. All of a sudden this year, it turns out no one stocks many refills - only a complete replacement of the blade, of course at much higher cost. Virtually no source for my 97 328 this year, whereas I used to just walk in and pick up a nice set of Bosch wiper refills out of a giant selection on the rack. Is it the same for others here?

BMW dealer doesn't stock an actual refill - just a long piece of rubber that they cut to size. Has anybody used these?

What's everyone doing for wiper blades this year? I finally found what I needed for both cars, but what a pain.

Frank

I purchased replacement wipers refills at Canadian Tire, same as I have for years for my previous vehicles. But they squealed something furious when used, there was no tolerating it.

So I ended up back at my BMW dealership to buy from the "long piece of rubber that they cut to size". Yep, they're a bit of a hassle to put back on, and were more expensive than those from CT, but they work great. I'm happy.
