While driving, the speedo and tach needles flip left and then return to the right. At the sme time, the AC turns on, the "monitoring Systems message" lights and then reads "OK". The mpg changes from avge. to inst. Is a short or is it the cluster?

Could be an early warning of a dead battery and/or bad charging system. Also could be a loose connection at or near the battery. Pay particular attention to the grounds (negative). Good luck!
