I usually drive only short (3-10 mile) distances, city driving speeds. A few times after 50+ mile highway trips at 50-60 mph the warning "service idle control system" comes on. It hasn't appeared since a trip 3 months ago. Is it serious? Need to know as I have to take a 70 mile trip (140 roundtrip) in the morning + am worried what could happen if the warning comes on again. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

Probably just a funky throttle body. A cleaning of the bores and plates with 02 sensor safe carb cleaner and a toothbrush might be all it needs. FWIW YMMV
