2000 Chevy Blazer...battery light staying on

2000 Chevy Blazer battey light came on today and won't go out. Charge indicator is sitting at nogtch halfway between 9 and 14, roughly 11.5 and holding. Checked all fuses and relays and cleaned corrosion of positive post. Cables appear good otherwise and disconnecting battery after starting, engine runs fine. it doesn't "appear" to be the alternator. Anyone have any ideas?

You proved absolutely nothing disconnecting the battery while it the engine was running. 9 volts will keep it running, it takes 13.5 to run everything and keep the battery charged. I've posted constantly do not disconnect batteries while modern cars are running. Do a quick Google for "disconnect battery while engine running". That method went out when computers started showing up on cars., and even on classics it still doesn't tell you anything, other than it is putting out just enough to run the engine.

It probably is the alternator. Take it to autozone and they'll check it for free.

How old is the battery? Here in Florida, you are lucky if it lasts longer than three years.

Less then a year old. Will take it to Autozone and have them check it.
