Have an oil leak that appears to be comming from the rear of the motor. Rear main, I guess. If I'm right. How much trouble is this to replace? Would I be better off getting another motor to freshen up? Mine has 147,000.

if the rear-main in the L4 is anything like a v8, the actual replacing of the seal isn't that bad. it's the getting to it that sucks. you have to remove the transmission and the flexplate/flywheel. Needing a new motor would greatly depend on the one in the truck.... if it's strong, just fix the seal.
