fuel pump shorted out with a full tank of gas. it was replaced about two years ago. should i be worried about fire or explosion? why would something like that happen? defective pump or thats how it breaks ? comments welcome,thanks

you shouldnt worrie about an explosion if you are you can always unhook the connector which is outside of the tank.Or just full the fuse or relay to the fuel pump.The first question about your pump is was it aftermarket they have been known to go before their time.Id aslo look at other options before deciding if it is your fuelpump.it could be a faulty pressure regulator of a bad relay..I hope this helps a bit
