Re: Relieving fuel system pressure prior to fuel filter replacement.

Hmm, I just did my fuel filter last weekend. I didnt even bother reading the manual. I just read the back of the filter box and said to relieve the pressure.....Hmm, ok, well, im not a mechanic either, so to me, this meant to just take the gas cap off, so thats what I did.

Once I got those damn connectors off, very LITTLE gas came out of the lines, I was able to use a simple rag to soak it up. Undid 3 lines, took off old filter, replaced with new one, re-hooked up the 3 lines and BAM,,,,,I was done.

The dealership wanted $80 bucks for THEIR fuel filter and also wanted another $60 on top of that for labor. I actually laughed at the dude and told him to just bring my truck back around, I can do the filter myself......AND I DID....

At HiLo, my filter cost me about $47 bucks and took me all of about 10 minutes to change. Keep in mind that im no where near being a mechanic, yet I GOT IT DONE in 10 minutes and saved myself a buttload of money...

DOWN WITH THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS!!!!!!!!!!
