1997 Neon 2.0

Just finished a head gasket replacement. Engine won't fire. Got spark, concerned about fuel. Been down almost 6 wks for repair. Thinking that fuel leaked back thru line to tank. Will try to pressurize tank to push fuel up line to injector manifold. Anybody got any other suggestions besides the obvious, spark, bad fuel pump, etc. car was running when head gasket was diagnoesed. Any body experienced this that can help. Thanks

Hmmm. why would you pressurize the tank to get fuel to the injectors when the pump is in the tank and pushes the fuel up??? why not go back to the basics and check all settings, especially the timing marks because that is more then likely where your problem is.

Once the fuel lines are empty, it will take quite a bit of on/off cycles of the ignition to bleed off the air from the lines. Check at the manifold service port to confirm if you are getting fuel, then check the fuel pressure.

Got home last night and uncapped schrader valve at front of injector tube manifold, depressed valve and bingo fuel. Fuel must have moved up line from tank over night. Finally got it to fire, a little ruff but finally smoothed out. Drove it about 4 miles to see if computer would relearn. The boy took it home that night and seemed to improve except that the check engine light came on at stop light and flickered then went out. Then came on again and stayed on but running ok. We'll see what happens in the next day or so.
