Fiat tipo dashboard

Hello, i've bought a Fiat tipo 1900 diesel with a digital dashboard, but some of the leds behind it don't seem to give any light anymore. Does anybody knows how to remove the dashboard in order to replace the led-lights?

Thanks

Peter

From what I can remember, it is not composed of discrete LEDs, but a system of LCD filters that block light from a standard backlighting filament bulb.

There is a side strip on the dash that can be levered off which exposes two screws. On the other side, close to the speaker, there should be another two screws, possibly under the speaker cover. Remove all four and the complete dash will come out. There are three cable sockets behind which you need to squeeze your hand behind to remove before the assembly is free to come out completely.

Once out, you should notice quite a collection of standard bulb holders, the ones that locate with a quater turn and are capless push in types. They light up everything, from the speedo to the temp guage, etc. If part of your guage is poorly lit, then a corresponding bulb will have blown. Some will have a green silicone cover which gives the green colour (if you are particularly bored some day, go to Maplins and get red or blue covers and give your dash a new colour!!). Replace all that have blown and the dash will look the business.
