84 TA Electrical Issue

Washed the the car last weekend and now the RH turn signal doesn't work. The LH is fine. What's interesting is the interior dash RH indicator light is on when the parking lights are on. This feels and smells like a short somewhere, but I can't put my finger on it. Any ideas?

Thanks Carmine

I beleive it does that when you have a bulb out(running lights)

That can also happen when your turn signal relay is going/gone bad...but I'd check the bulb first...that's the most likely and cheapest thing to check.

PS: If you ever lose a bulb on the LEFT side, while you've got the ass-end interior all pulled open, you might want to change ALL of the lights...right side isn't as bad, but the left is a real pain...you'll wanna do that side as rarely as humanly possible!

Hopefully if they ever do build another Camaro/Bird, they'll make those bloody things a little easier to get at...

Check and clean the front turn signal sockets. You are getting feedback through the right side socket which is making it glow with the parking lights on. Used to happen all the time on my 84 T/A until I took a rifle brush and cleaned up all the contacts.

I'd also check the grounds to make sure none of them are loose. I had a loose ground and the headlight would blink when I had the signals on.

Also, put some terminal contact grease in there as well after you clean it. It will help repel the water out of there that causes corrosion.
