Ford "Quality" Junk as usual...

Ford Recalling Crown Victorias, Sport Utility Vehicles By Dee-Ann Durbin Associated Press Writer Published: Aug 8, 2003

WASHINGTON (AP) - Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 30,000 Crown Victoria police cars and taxis because of a wheel defect, the federal government said Friday. The announcement came just one day after Ford said it would offer fire-suppression technology in 2005 for Crown Victoria police cars, which have been criticized because of gas tank explosions in some rear-end collisions.

The National Highway Traffic Safety administration also said Ford is recalling more than 1.5 million Ford Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers made between 1998 and 2001 because a bolt could fracture in the seat backs. Ford also is recalling a smaller number of the same vehicles because of a problem with speed control cables.

A Ford spokesman was not immediately available for comment Friday.

NHTSA said on certain 2003 Crown Victoria and Crown Victoria Police Interceptors that are equipped with steel wheels, some of the wheels may develop cracks in the rim. The cracks could ultimately lead to rapid air loss from the tire.

Dealers will replace wheels that were manufactured between Aug. 18,

2001, and Sept. 22, 2002, NHTSA said.

On Explorers and Mountaineers equipped with high-back seats, the bolt that attaches the seat recliner to the seat frame could fracture and the seat could fall back, increasing the risk of a driver losing control. Dealers will replace the bolt with a metal one.

On 448,500 Explorers and Mountaineers, the speed control cables could malfunction, increasing braking distance. Dealers will inspect the cables and replace them if necessary.

Honda is recalling 247,019 CR-V sport utility vehicles because excessive corrosion could prevent the automatic transmission from shifting into park. A crash could occur if the driver can't safely park the vehicle, NHTSA said. Honda didn't respond to a telephone message seeking comment. *********************************************************** (Shocking that Honda wouldn't reply, or that Honda is having yet *another* problem with corrosion...)

Or this one?

Honda said it was recalling in Japan 13,352 units of its S2000 sports car built between March 1999 and May 2002 because of an inappropriate connection between the engine and the spark plug that could cause the engine to stop. Overseas, some 39,544 S2000s were affected and its recall will fall under the category of "product update campaign," indicating that the problem is not of sufficient magnitude to warrant notice of a formal recall to authorities. Honda, which does not know of any accidents resulting from the problem, estimated the cost of the domestic recall at 167.5 million yen ($1.43 million) but was not able to give an estimate for the overseas product update campaigns. It is normal for automakers to have several recalls a year. *********************************************************** (I like that last line. Herb would use that to defend Honda.)

Hey, why weren't *those* recalls on the front page?

Get a life, stop playing with yourself, and see if you can get out of the trailer park. It's rotting what little mind you have remaining.

Seek help.

Remember when pickups had the gas tank *in the cab*? Remember when the Land Cruiser had the fuel line running under the front passenger seat, and the seat would rub on it, and hole it?

So bad that I'll retire comfortably before 50, and you'll still be spanking away in your desolate Alberta trailer park.
