fuel press. reg. going bad? -Liquid at vacuum line.........

Mar 27, 2007 1 Replies

...There is and has been a raw gas smell with my 94 Explorer (113k miles) for a few months-I figure it may be related to the fume canister and solenoid system, but am not sure.?? After doing more testing I noticed a tiny amount of liquid when I removed the vacuum line attached to the fuel pressure regulator and I'm am now wondering it it is the issue instead of the fume recylcer??? Thoughts??? THANKS!! dan

You're exactly right. Replace the fuel pressure regulator. It's pretty common for the diaphragm to start to leak and allow fuel into the vacuum side of the valve which dumps directly into the upper intake.
