Safety of different body style explorers

I did some research (a while back when I bought mine used and recently) and the 4wd 4dr explorers actually have a lower rollover death rate than some GM sedans (like grand ams). The single accident death rate is lower than most cars on the road. I would conclude it is very safe, if driven obeying all rules of the road, proper loading with properly inflated tires. Mine never sees any speeds past 55-60. I'm not saying it can't roll over, but look at the death rates of cars like the sunfire and neon. They are MUCH MUCH MUCH higher than than THIS explorer.

On the other hand - the 2WD sport seems pretty scary according to statistics. It has one of the highest rollover rates. That seems like a very dangerous vehicle, I guess because of its short wheel base and lack of

4wd weight. Also, maybe people who buy this inexpensive truck used are careless/inexperienced drivers???? The 2wd Blazer is also in this category.

It is crazy to lump all explorers into one category. I'm not saying the 4wd

4drs are perfect, but its almost like comparing an SUV to a civic.
