94 Taurus downshifting question

Just bought a 94 Taurus wagon, 3.0 motor, well taken care of with

120k.

From 35 to 25 mph there is a rapid 'fall' in the gearing. Tranny is fine at speed and when you apply the brakes when going from 35 to 25 you don't notice the fast drop....

Is this related to the car not being driven since April? Notice the car didn't do well going up major hills today, although it flies on flat hiways...wonder if an overall tune is in order...

I did hit the Jiffy lube this AM, full checkup, and all was fine...

Can you explain the problem a little more specifically? Does it drop outta gear unexpectedly or what? Check the tranny fluid level on your dipstick, now with the AXOD-E (AX4S) tranny your fluid level should be an inch ABOVE the full mark, and certainly no lower than full. This trans has a lot of issues but hopefully no hard part has broken in yours. To check your fluid level make sure the car is warmed (NOT hot!) up, then when parked, put it into D, than R, and then check the fluid level in either neutral or park. How old is your fluid too? An oil analysis sample might be prudent. One more thing, NEVER go to jiffy lube!
