The fuel economy improvement is not because of the 2.0-liter four. It's because the little matchbox has only a 3000 pound curb weight.

The reduced emissions are not because of the 2.0-liter four. Overall emissions are less because less fuel passes through an engine pulling only a 3000-pound car.
