You only can take the value of the car as a charitable donation, IF you itemize and you only get a tax DEDUCTION not a tax CREDIT. I.E. The car has a $1,000 value, the tax saving of $150 if you are in the 15% bracket. You can get that for the tranny

Some of the organizations that accept car donations give the cars to poor people who would not be able to afford a car otherwise. They require working cars, not cars like this one.
