Recently I’ve noticing a sputter/cough/rough engine on a cold start on my Ranger. The engine starts fine, idles fast then calms down like normal. But then as I attempt to drive off, as soon as I give it a little gas, the engine sputters. It doesn’t matter if I am letting the clutch out or not, same effect regardless. The problem goes away after about a minute of driving. The check engine light is NOT on yet. But I’m guessing its one of those emissions sensors that feed into the PCM.
Btw, we recently had a few weeks of really hot, humid weather here in Wisconsin and the problem was more frequent. Now that it has cooled down a bit, the problem doesn’t occur quite as often. Any thoughts?
