92 EGR valve or sensor?

Hi- Got my truck 92 f150 302 running and now is posting a 334 code. (EGR closed voltage higher than expected) I replaced the EGR sensor last spring - don't remember what the code was. Does this code mean it's the sensor or the Valve? Thanks!

Could be either but, I would look for a vacuum leak first. It could also be the vacuum solenoid. It is easy to install the connector to the vacuum cannister wrong preventing vacuum from getting to the EGR. Have you disconnected any lines for any reason?

It could mean neither. The comp expects to see x voltage at closed, and x voltage at full open (I'd have to look up the specs) and currently it sees a higher voltage then the minimum it wants. One (not approved) way is to file the pintle rod down to adjust the voltage one way. Went through this same thing with my 92; replacing both the valve and the sensor. Finally hooked up a meter to the sensor; read the voltage and added a spacer to the end of the sensor to adjust the voltage into the proper range. Used a vacuum hose plug, trimmed it short so it wouldn't interfere with the sensors movement, then trimmed off the tip until I got the voltage within range. PITA, But when you've changed the two pieces that set toe code and it is still out of specs what ya to do?
