I need advice please. I have a 94 Ranger 4x4 with 100,000 miles, automatic transmission. It wouldn't shift between first and second in this cold weather without my moving the lever on the steering column. It started making a whining noise, which I thought sounded like the four-wheel drive. I took it to the two diferent shops, they didn't hear the whining noise, but they both said it needed a transmission (they put in a used one with 30,000 miles). Then when test driving it, the whine showed up, They said it needed work on the transfer case. Then it needed something that hooked on the transmission, I can't remember what it was called. I have the truck back, but it is shifting at a higher rpm, around 3,000 and it stays around 2,500 most of the time, which before was around 2,500 and 1,500. The person who fixed it said it was the computer, but those rpm's were okay. Then coming home tonight I turned a corner and it sounded like I had a flat tire. I pulled over immediately, but no flat tire, nothing hanging, I pulled back on the road and it made the same sound for about 50 feet and quit. I want to check all options before I take it back to the repair shop, it has already cost me about $2,500. Advice please?????? Thanks
