DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ford Motor Company ( Nachrichten / Aktienkurs ) 's January U.S. sales declined 19 percent compared with a year ago, largely as a result of a planned reduction in sales to daily rental companies. Sales to daily rental companies were cut by 65 percent.

It's more fun to look at the December monthly sales, since the YTD figures are a whole year. Just go to Ford.com and look at press releases to see model-by-model figures each month.

Ford sold a zillion Tauruses last year (to rental companies), and now they don't have any. That accounted for most of the dropoff.
