Final analysis:



The split shaft was a poor design by Ford (as per Ford.) Ordering a new shaft - "discontinued item." Solution: replace with fabricated one piece shaft.



Doesn't the word "recall" ever come into play?

Symptoms: light vibration felt throughout the entire vehicle beginning at
> about 55 m.p.h. - increases on deceleration until you get to about 40 mph.

> New tires - balanced and rechecked. No rim damage. Front end aligned, new
> shocks, all ball joints - titie rods - etc. in excellent condition. Front
