what engine is this '63 f150

Hello all, trying to figgure out a little info for my father. He just picked up a 1963 f150 and wants to know if the engine is origional or a replacement, what the displacement is, and possibly, an idea to the plumbing on top of the engine (which side should be the pcv valve, which side is the breather, and any other misc tubing that should be there... Here's the info:

1963 Ford f150 2 WD serial plate #: f10jd380620 straight 6 3 spd on the column I appreciate any info you can give me concerning the '63 ford, thank ahead of time for your input

Ford used the 223 straight six in a lot of applications from 60 to mid 60's

just a SWAG

I think by the serial number that is the right size... trying to find a picture of one to verify and maybe pick up how the top end plumbing goes ~D

I don't recall there being an F150 in that year. I remember the F100 and the F250. I had a '65 F100 with a 262ci 6cy/3 on the tree. Bought it brand new, somewhere in the $1500 range if memory serves. (I think the 223ci was the 'standard' engine) It hauled my race car/trailer(no trailer brakes) pretty good....it was exciting when I had to stop quickly though. Glad I and everyone else on the road lived through those 'stupid/young' times.

My best memory of the plumbing is that the valve cover has two holes. The one closest to the front is for the breather and the next one is/was for the pvc valve, which hooked into the air-filter housing. 1965 was a long time ago, so my memory may be off. You should try your local library for some info. It may still have some old 'repair' manuals that would cover what you are looking for. Another thing you might try is looking on eBay for a Service Manual for that year truck.

Hope something of this helps.....

Lots of things for it on eBay. My 62 F-100 I've had since 1978. Its tore down for resto right now. It had a 292 in it when I bought it. When it lives again it will have a newer F-100 frame with a independant front suspension, power disc brakes, power steering, and air conditioning, and either a 66 390 4 barrel or a 1972 460. Mine is also the 8 ft unibody model.

It's a F-100. "F10". The next letter "J" means it had a 223 six standard. The next letter "D" means it was built in Dallas TX. MK
