Window Leak

Hi all, I have a 97 f150 extended cab. The rear window (sliding) is leaking on the passenger side. I have read that it is a design flaw with the window, and the whole window should be replaced. I have also heard that it is the "halo"? What is that? And how much do you think this would run me to replace the window to a standard (not sliding)? I just bought this truck and ended up having to put some money into it already, drive chain cover gasket leaking, new calipers and breaks. My wife is going to kill me if a put too much more into it. ;)

Thank you, Brian

You can probably find a good rear glass at a wrecking yard, then all you would need is a new gasket.

A good truck is hard to find and good to have. I 'spect' you'll miss her......

Brian, The term "halo" is the plastic trim around the back window, I myself have never seen one leak.... what the problem is one of three things, the glass in bonded to plastic frame and is coming loose or the frame is cracked at a bolt point or the ford everseal tape kit is bad.... the first two will have to be fixed with replacement of the glass, if the seal is bad the unit can be R&R (remove and reinstalled....but keep in mind no glass shop will warrenty this to fix the problem or that the glass will not break when pulled, so its your call if you want to take the chance...... as far as the price, glass prices vary a lot, so call around and check

hope this helps Tim Binswanger Glass
