Windstart 95: takes much longer to start engine in cold weather

My Windstar 95 when temperature dropped below freezing, takes much longer to start an engine. Usually it took 2-3 sec to start the engine after starter was turned on, now it takes 5-10 sec.

What are the most common reason for this? I am afraid that in January things get worse when the temperature falls much lower (Eastern Ontario - Canada). The battery was changed last year.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Wes

Thanks for the answer. I do not know, since I am not a mechanic (just doing simple repairs as brakes, electrical, and so). What I can try, is to replace a fuel pump, after considering the price and the effort level. I do not have any specialized equipment to measure the fuel pressure.

When I lived in cold country, I used to replace plugs at least every other year. If they aren't in near-new condition it will make for hard starting.
