Hi, Anyone who has experience with Cherokee 2,5L TD Year 1990-1997 ? I had a 4L 6 Syl Cherokee Laredo Gasoline, with the Norwegian gasoline prices it become very expensive to drive, consider now a Diesel, but wonder if any one have any warnings to give me about this kind of engine.

I drove one for a month, 140 Kmh is pretty much the Max on the Highway, Otherwise it was fine. I drove From Belgium to Paris almost back and forth on 1 gas tank. Manual tranny. I believe it was a 94.

I can second that. I've test-driven one and on the road it is a lame duck. It is lacking the horsepower to make driving fun. You'll certainly get from point A to point B. If you want a 4x4 diesel I'd have a look at Landrover. It's TD5 engine has a much better performance and consumption reasonable. A friend of mine is driving one and claims 8l/100km in average consumption.

I guess that's right. I have been checking out Land rover discovery, and Range Rover. It's just that in this group you get so much help when you need it, and I guess that I will need help in the future when you have 10 year old car of this type, if I come to this group with a Land rover I guess I will be asked to F..off
You don't want a LandRover of Range Rover unless you want a whole host of electrical problems to boot. The LandRover diesel engine is not great either - gets a bit tired after 100K miles.

this group and its members are a major argument for Jeeps. People here are on topic, helpful and polite, something which is unfortunately not the case on many newsgroups.
Just excellent !

Here in North America, they made a mistake on the inner fender around then and the door hinges literally rot right off the front pillar. I would be looking at those hinges really carefully.
Other than that, I have 2 friends with 92's and they are running fine.

Ok I take the point.
What about 1992 mod Cherokee Special Edition 187500 km Automatic 4L 6 syl. What should I check on this model ?
I agree. If You want drive 80:20 ----> road:off-road forget 2,5TD in Cherokee. LR Discovery 2,5TDi! 2,5TD in Cherokee is one-use-engine, doesn't survive overheating. Qiq.pl PS Sorry for my english.
