You have not heard the worst of it either....

Tuesday morning I was heading into work and got stuck partway down the driveway. Ended up sideways and having to get the winch out and try to get straightened out. That didnt work but I blew out a u-joint and short shaft, also both ball joints all on the passenger side. Had to wait until Wednesday for some freinds to come and help me get it the last 100-200 feet to the highway where the tow truck could pick it up. However, that morning the guy building my shop did send someone up to fire up the excavator and plow the road (he did manage to get around the Jeep) so that they can maybe get a cement truck in here next week. My freinds that showed up helped me get my pickup out too. Although I brought it back in from the highway and then it snowed last night. Hopefully I can get it out for this weekend again. I think I need to invest in some good snowshoes!!

Umm... Jenn.....

You KNOW this is the wrong time of year to pour concrete... right?

How in the hell did you break all of that stuff at once on your Jeep? I've never heard of such a thing, were the parts already tired or something?

Dang, wish I were closer, we could have brought the calvery, at least some shovels and a second winch and tried to help dig you out.

I'm really sorry to hear that you're having such a rough go of it!

I just replaced my rear drive shafts with Alloys. Bent one on the last trip to Superlift. Not badly but enough to cause a low grade vibration that made me kind of nervous.

Now to get the fronts done THEN I can get some 35 or 37" tires on it! Whoo Hoo! Prolly 35's, 37's might keep it from fitting in the garage :¬)

If its above freezing its ok here. Its a chemical reaction to set up, not a physical drying process (although drying too fast is bad for it). This is Portland Cement we will be using.

Worn parts, deep deep snow, lockers, sideways winch pull. Actually its good, because it doesnt seem to have damaged the housing at all, we were thinking at first that the axle housing might have been toasted when the stub went out.

What happened I think is the u-joint let go, that then caused the stub to get damaged, which then took out the ball joints as it spun. The busted brakeline is from not realizing this was happening sooner.

The ball joints were in pretty bad shape. They are replacing all 4. They are going to replace both stubs (outer axle), seals, and u-joints on both sides. Also the brakeline.

I dunno what size you are, but keep in mind the issues with getting into the jeep when it sits a couple of inches higher. I am pretty sure I wont go to 37's because of that. I'm only 5'4" and its a long way up there already to get into the Jeep.

I'm only 5'5", old and chubby to boot. I'm pretty sure that the largest I will go is 35's... the 33's combined with the lift I have now (4" lift, 1.25" BL) make it tough already. I have to grab my aww 'chit handle and drag myself in. If it's on the down side of a hill... well.. I prefer NOT ot have an audience, it can get pretty funny! Reminds me of when I was a little Kate and had to get my horse to stand next to a hay bale or a rock just so I could get on.

Glad to hear that all is going well again Jenn. Especially since it sounds like some of that stuff was ready to be replaced already.

A now retired ol-fart about the office had a very good solution.

He had a plastic step stool and a long rope tied to the bed of his truck. Sit the stool down. Use it to climb up. Pull it up with the rope and throw it in the back.

Kate: Get yourself a "Cowboy Stirrup" to hang over the edge of the tub for getting in. You can get the cowgirl thing going and lift the jeep as high as you want.

Bad news today. They opened up my diff and "chunks fell out". My OX locker is toast, my gears are shot. Now I have to figure out what to do....

I hear you on the downhill sides. I know I have heard many a snicker behind my back because of that... I had that with the horses too. lol.

I wish.

My new place is sucking all available cash. =( No new axle for me. Although OX says I can rebuild if the carrier is ok. The shop will call them tomorrow and figure it out.

Ahhh... decisions decisions..... granite countertops or Jeep parts.

The granite for my countertops has been sitting in my garage for over a year now. :sigh: BUT My Jeep has parts! LOL

LOL.

Carrier is trashed. I went up and looked at it yesterday. Time to deal with OX on Monday....I would let this ride for a while and do it in a few months if I thought that we were done with snow...but I am sure we are not.

Granite counters.... I HATE YOU! ROTFL! I would love to have those. =)
