If you can move the joint in the joke and the yoke is not moving, then your u-joints are probably shot. Don't buy the 'heavy duty' sealed ones, buy the standard duty greasable ones.

If it is really side to side this would mean the caps are not in all the way. In any case they are probably damaged by now.
