I've seen a yank truck with a sod-off V8, it has 2 shiney pipes about 3" diameter, one sticking out each side, and from the sound of it, no silencers.
I have to say it was impressive.

Isn't the noise the only thing that makes the vehicle move? The more you let escape the slower you go ;)
