Any breaker recommendations?

Morning all,

Changed the shocks on the 110 yesterday which went well apart from a slight mishap with an axle stand which means I'll need a new radiator grille frame. They're the wrong side of =A3100 new, so I'm trying to find someone breaking a white Defender who'll part with a used one for more sensible money.

If they haven't got one I've just broken a white one, I'll have a look what it's like today. Post back if you don't get fixed up.

Heh, I never thought to look on ebay, it's amazing what gets on there! That's certainly an option although it would need a respray. Looks like I'd be able to use my starting handle with it as well :-)

Exactly my thoughts, although I reckon a rad might have been cheaper than a new frame, albeit more messy!

Let's just say it was an object lesson in 'make sure the vehicle is adequately supported' - which it was, until the bottle jack I was using to lift the axle extended sufficiently to lift the whole front end off one axle stand and then the same bottle jack decided it would have a wobble, which was too much for the second axle stand. One of those 'slow motion' events then followed...

I had my 110 fall off a standard defender high lift the other day when changing a wheel - the front brake disc dug a 2" slot into the drive just where my toes had been - those years spent ballroom dancing paid off as i just managed to get my feet out of the way in time.

The drive is easy to repair, i dont think my toes would have been so - no damage to the brake disc (thanks for the concern)

Those high lift things are bloody dangerous.

and generally that is for off road recovery, eg lifting from ruts where the inherent instability is useful, or as an emergency winch.

They are bloody dangerous for anything else, including wheel changing.

seen them, thought they maybe handy, but not sure about trapping such a large volume of carbon monoxide to then release it in one hit, after all, CO is toxic!

If it's the aluminium panel that holds the plastic grille then it's a bit twisted at the bottom and it's had a piece cut out ( round the number plate) at the bottom edge but it's usable (just) if you've nothing better. The plastic grille is ok. If they're any good to you, you can have them FOC

Neat idea .... but what do you do if you have 4 exhausts? Or 2? Like wot I have on my 2 LR's :(

Does it fill at a much reduced rate? (although it would be amusing to see how fast the supercharged one would fill it - as I'm sure that it works on air in/vs air out :) )

Thats easy just weld up the spare holes or hammer them flat. I'm sure it won't effect performance......

I'm convinced that all these exhaust outlets are just for show. My series III manages fine with just the one, so does the transit, albeit the tranny's is somewhat larger.

There's also the point about the diameter of the pipes... if you add up the

4 outlet diameters then you need that much throughput all the way through the system including the outlet from the manifolds.
