Well, since I couldn't be with you in the UK, I'll report on our local equivalent!
Outfit based around here (Vendee Land Aventure) put on it's second annual Land Rover only meeting just up the road from where I work for the Sat-Sun-Mon of the Pentecost bank holiday. I could only visit on the Saturday morning, and so saw people arrive and then head off for the off-roading course. Not that there needed to be a course, the lane to the site was muddy enough (chocolate mousse style)! When I arrived, the early birds were already on site. A good mix of Defenders (90 and 110), range rovers and discos. They were mostly 110s, with one 109" SIII ambi, one lightweight, a few 130s, and one trick Drew Bowler style RR conversion. As the rest trickled in, they were again mostly 110s, obviously play vehicles (loads of winches, roofracks with spots, rooftents, very shiny) - unlike my old warhorse. Quite a few trailers with rooftents as well. One couple arrived in a very heavy duty 130, front and rear winches, trailer, tools in the hi-cap section. They drove round to the camping area - and promptly sank the rear up to the axle in the mud! I did get to see a KE recovery for the first time as a result, very impressive.
I also managed to get a new second-hand rear fuel tank for the 110 for a paltry ?30.
It was a shame I couldn't stay longer, or try the off-road course. but there is always next year.
